Welcome Friends,

Oooooh!  Do I have to write this page?  I’ve been on the web a long time and really, does anyone feel like they are actually getting to meet someone for the first time when they check out an About Page?

We are not on a date, are we?  It’s kind of like that, although I’ve been married for almost 35 years and first dates were way long ago, but yeah!  An About Page is similar.

We look at you from across this big table of the internet.  We pontificate about what we like and what we don’t like.  We spew out who we are and things about our husbands and family. We really try to impress!  How about I just list that dull boring stuff?  You won’t even have to engage in the conversation—unless you want to leave a comment when I finish talking.

The Stuff:

Name:  Julia Bettencourt (Yes! You are smart and saw it on my banner on your way in.)
Husband: Phil
Married:  35 years this December
Kids:  Three (31, 19, and 18 – One married, two at home)
Reside:  Central Valley in Northern California
Pets:  None at present time, but I want a dog!!
Writer:  Of devotionals, women’s ministry articles, ministry surveys, and then there are lots of stories and writing rants that I will never share with you!

Okay, enough about me!  I’ll take this opportunity to let you know why I have dismantled and changed my website.

Seasons of Change

This website has been my home for over 16 years (on different domains at the beginning) as I’ve shared devotionals, articles, event decorating how-tos, and lots of budget-friendly ideas for women’s ministry.  The Lord blessed that abundantly, but I have felt the leading for some time to bring that to an end.  Please understand that this decision was not made lightly.  Much prayer, thought, and consideration went into it.  There are a lot of things that led up to this.

We all go through changes in our lives.  I am at a different stage in my life than when I started with two babies in diapers.   My youngest, my son, Aaron, will be graduating from high school this year! It’s a whole other season of life, my friends.

I also haven’t done any speaking or any hands on women’s ministry in a few years.  Sometimes we go through those seasons of change where we minister in other ways or we just need to step back and allow others to minister to us.  It’s just where we are in our season of life.  This change for the website is what is needed for me in my life right at this moment.

Necessity too plays a part.  My husband and I have some medical bills and other things we need to pay off so I  am also looking at making some much-needed income from my blog to help with that.  I’ll be doing advertising, hopefully, some collaborating, and I am working on eventually putting up an Etsy store with some of my writing in download form and other goodies.  Also working on some other endeavors for a little extra income.

Another reason for this change is that so much of my writing and my website has been and is being copied and cloned in so many forms online that I just feel compelled to find another way of sharing my devotional and ministry writing.

It’s kind of scary to start all fresh and new but I know that this is what the Lord has for me right now at this juncture of my life.  My new tagline for the website is “choosing to be creative at home” and  I hope you will all stick around as I will be sharing some of my DIY projects and budget-friendly ideas for hospitality and home.   Right now I feel like my family and home is where I need to concentrate.

My husband and I bought our home around 10 years ago and I had several health problems and two broken down knees that made me almost housebound for a long time.  I underwent two knee replacements and I also lost a great amount of weight in the last three years.  I can say that at this moment I’m the healthiest I’ve ever been.  All of those things I wanted to do to fix up this old house can finally be done.  Praise the Lord!  I’ve always been passionate about decorating my home and making it a cozy place, so now that I’m able to put myself into it fully, I feel like I have a new lease on life.

I did put some of my holiday devotionals , articles, and women’s ministry resources in download form in the Shop, so if you are here for that, go visit my Shop here.  What is available will only be offered for a very limited time and then will be retired.  The majority of my writing will be finding it’s way into book form. It’s a work in progress as I will be self-publishing through Amazon. I’ll let you know when that happens.  I have a lot of things on my plate right now, (and spilling over off the edges) so it’s going to be a while.

Unfortunately, other than what I am currently offering in my Shop, I won’t be able to help you with old devotionals, material, and project directions from the website.  Thanks for your understanding.  Never fear though!  I have lots of new things planned to come your way.  I love being creative in my home when it comes to decorating and entertaining while doing it on a budget of course, and I look forward to sharing that with you.

Please pray for me as I basically start all over with the blogging and website thing.  So many of you have prayed and supported me over the years and I trust you will stick with me as I fine tune my journey here.

Creative Blessings,
Julia

New 12/14/17——–I started a new Facebook Group for those that have been following me through the years so that you can interact and fellowship together.

The group will provide a place to discuss what’s going on with your women’s ministry and ways to encourage each other in serving the Lord.  I hope you will find a home to bounce off ideas, share what’s working, and what’s not in your women’s ministry.
Also, this will be a place to develop friendships with other Christian women.  Sorry fellows.  This group is for ladies only!

At the moment we have 890 members in a little over a day.  The ladies are already discussing their Christmas events so hop on over and join the fun!

See you there!!
