A ladies retreat or event held at a local church can be wonderful but sometimes the most awkward moments are in the very beginning during the opening time.

A smile or a friendly word from your ladies in attendance directed at each other can go a long way in bringing an uplifting start to your event time.

It's time to greet each other with a smile.

Do any of the following just to break things up and get a smile on everyone's face.  You'll need everyone to stand up for these.

For some, the MC or leader will need to have the ladies keep repeating the phrases given or even repeating louder a few times to get everyone on board.

  • Get everyone to pat their heads and rub their stomachs.  After everyone has started, have them stop, then start again only this time have them say together, "I'm glad God has a sense of humor!"

  • Get everyone to flap their arms like a chicken.  After everyone has started, have them stop, then start again only this time have them say together, "The blessings are falling!  The blessings are falling!"

  • Have everyone raise their bibles over the heads and swing them back and forth and say together, "The B-I-B-L-E!  That's the book for me!"

  • Have everyone pull out a photo from their purse (some probably won't participate but encourage everyone to.)

Have them show the photo to their neighbor and tell them who it is and why that person's special to them.  Grandmothers love this one!  Remind them after how we are all special to the Lord.

  • Get everyone to "baa" like a sheep.  After everyone's started, have them stop and say together, "The Lord is my Shepherd!"

  • Get everyone to "moo" like a cow. After everyone has started, have them stop and say together, "I want the Lord to mooove me tonight!"

Stress the word, "mooove" and have them hold it out for several seconds when they say it.

  • Get everyone to raise their arms over their heads and hands in the air.  Have them "sprinkle" their fingers (like it's raining) and have them move their arms all the way from over their head and bend over "sprinkling" clear to their toes.

After everyone's done this a few times have them stop and do it again only this time have them say together, "Showers of blessings are falling tonight!"

  • Say "Happy!" 3 times.  Have all the ladies repeat it back until everyone is on board.

  • Say "Joy!" 3 times.  Have all the ladies repeat it back until everyone is on board.

  • Have them turn to their neighbor, shake hands, and say, "I'm glad you're my sister in Christ!"

  • Have them give a hug to someone close by and say, "God loves you and so do I!"

  • Have them turn to their neighbor, shake hands, and say, "I love you with the love of the Lord!"

  • Have them turn to their neighbor, shake hands, and say, "Glad you are here!"

  • Have them turn to your neighbor, shake hands, and say "hello" three times in a row.

  • Have them turn to their neighbor, shake hands, and say, "This is gonna be good!"

  • Have them turn to their neighbor , shake hands, and say, "I love your hair!"

  • Have them turn to their neighbor, shake hands, and say, “My, don’t you look pretty!”

  • Have them turn to their neighbor and tell them their favorite Bible verse.

  • Have them shake hands with at least 3 ladies and say, "God is in control!" to each of them.

Get creative!

Make up any saying revolving around your event theme to use as a meeting greeter.
