Fun Children's Church games

Postby clbwv » Wed Jul 22, 2009 10:16 am

Hi....I just wanted to share some really cool games we've played in ages 3-6 Children's Church lately. I try not to play them every week, even though the kids seems to enjoy them. I don't want them to get bored with them too quickly.
When studying a lesson on David & Goliath, I drew Goliath's face and let the kids "pin the rock" on his face. When studying Noah's Ark, we play "Pin the animal on Noah's Ark". When we studied Zacchaeus who climbed a tree to see Jesus, we played "pin Zacchaeus to the tree". Anyway, you get the idea! They loved it, putting on the blindfold and spinning around all just like playing "Pin the tail on the Donkey", which we could play at Christmas since Mary rode on it to get to Bethlehem! So, I know there can be plenty more ways to adapt it to a bible story. Just wanted to share! ;)

What a great idea! My kids always beg me to play the "I" game. I give out 7 skittles to each child and for the duration of the game, they can't say "I", "ME" or "MY". Each time they do, another child can take one of their skittles. At the end, whoever has the most skittles wins a prize. We started playing this game when we had a lesson on humility and we were learning to put others before ourselves. I thought it was a little silly at the time but 2 years later, the kids still beg to play it so I try and have the game about once a quarter. They really get into it!

That is a good idea. One game we always play is the Statue game. Especially if we are in line waiting for the special event to start. They play by seeing who can stand as still as a statue. If they are caught moving they are out. A couple of the rules are that they can't argue with the judge, if they are called out then they help judge the others. And while they are a judge they can not touch anyone, they can try to make them laugh by making faces at them but they can't touch them.
