Inspirational Words

Because it's close to graduation time, I keep seeing all of this inspirational word art everywhere. Words like "dream", "soar", "believe", and so on.  I've seen those words carved out of wood, put on posters, etched into plaques, and printed on greeting cards.

Most of those words make you think about life and getting the best out of it.  Let's take a look at some of them and see how we can get the most out of our Christian life.

Believe.

Definition: Accept (something) as true; feel sure of the truth of.

These things have I written unto you that believe on the name of the Son of God; that ye may know that ye have eternal life, and that ye may believe on the name of the Son of God.  1 John 5:13

Dream.

Definition: A cherished aspiration, ambition, or ideal.

Brethren, I count not myself to have apprehended: but this one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind, and reaching forth unto those things which are before,

I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus.  Philippians 3:13, 14

Wish.

Definition: A desire or hope for something to happen.

As newborn babes, desire the sincere milk of the word, that ye may grow thereby.  1 Peter 2:2

Live.
Definition: Not dead or inanimate; living.

For to me to live is Christ, and to die is gain.  Philippians 1:21

Inspire.

Definition: Fill (someone) with the urge or ability to do or feel something, especially to do something creative.

Let no man despise thy youth; but be thou an example of the believers, in word, in conversation, in charity, in spirit, in faith, in purity.  Timothy 4:12

Laugh.

Definition: To show emotion (as mirth, joy, or scorn) with a chuckle or explosive vocal sound.

Then was our mouth filled with laughter, and our tongue with singing: then said they among the heathen, The LORD hath done great things for them.  Psalms 126:2

Succeed.

Definition: Achieve what one aims or wants to.

This book of the law shall not depart out of thy mouth; but thou shalt meditate therein day and night, that thou mayest observe to do according to all that is written therein: for then thou shalt make thy way prosperous, and then thou shalt have good success.  Joshua 1:8

Soar.

Definition: Fly or rise high in the air.

But they that wait upon the LORD shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint.  Isaiah 40:31

Conclusion:

When we see these words on artwork, it's usually meant to inspire the power of positive thinking, but as Christians we have our power through Christ.  When we look at these words in that perspective, look how much more we can achieve through the Lord than just in and of ourselves.

So, what inspires you?
