Chilled but Filled

For he satisfieth the longing soul, and filleth the hungry soul with goodness. Psalm 107:9
When the weather outside is frightful what better way to warm up than to be filled. Not with soup or chili, but with some things that will last and hearten us.
Filled With Joy and Peace.
All throughout Christmas we hear about "joy" and "peace" but I think our New Year starts in a hurry with a burst of energy and all of a sudden, puff! We run out of steam, winter really sets in, and we seem to not think about that joy and peace so much. I'm not sure what happens.
Perhaps we take the time to schedule in all the things and activities we resolve to do and forget to add in any time to concentrate on Christ. We start filling up our lives with things and busy schedules and forget about our relationship with the Lord.
Keeping that relationship with Christ alive will allow that joy and peace to outlast the season but we've got to leave room for it. It's so nice to know that when it's chilly and freezing outside our window, we can relax and rest in that wonderful peace of the Lord. It will help warm us up and allow us push through and move on.
Now the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, that ye may abound in hope, through the power of the Holy Ghost. Romans 15:13
Filled With Laughter and Praise.
Things always seem a little sunnier when there's laughter in the house and when there's a bleak winter day on the horizon, there's nothing better to get our blood flowing than to sing praises to the Lord. It sets things in perspective and warms our hearts.
Then was our mouth filled with laughter, and our tongue with singing: then said they among the heathen, The LORD hath done great things for them. Psalms 126:2
Filled With Wonder and Amazement.
In Acts 3:1-11, it tells the story about how Christ healed the lame man who sat at the gate of the temple each day asking for alms. He had been lame since birth. When Christ healed him, the bible says that the people who witnessed it were "filled with wonder and amazement".
And all the people saw him walking and praising God:
And they knew that it was he which sat for alms at the Beautiful gate of the temple: and they were filled with wonder and amazement at that which had happened unto him. Acts 3:9,10
When's the last time you were filled with wonder and amazement at what the Lord has done? Taking the time to read through the bible can fill you with that wonder and amazement.
Look at the miracles of Christ, read the stories of biblical heroes, or even just read through the first part of Genesis and take a look at creation alone. Another way is just reflecting on your daily blessings. God still does wonderful and amazing things!
I think we all begin the New Year out and sail on into winter with such good intentions. We reflect at Thanksgiving, remember that Christ is our Savior at Christmas, and really determine to move forward in our Christian life.
Then winter hits us, no matter whether we live in a warm or cold climate. We get cold and a little chilled in our spiritual lives and we sometimes get a little slowed down in that "race that is set before us".
I think that realizing how filled we can be as Christians, even though we may be a little chilled perhaps might help us warm up.
Psalm 107:9 says,
For he satisfieth the longing soul, and filleth the hungry soul with goodness.
Only Christ can satisfy us but we have to concentrate on Him in order to drink in all that goodness and love that He has for us so it will warm us up, hearten us, and give us strength.
So, are you feeling a little chilly?
