Gingerbread Gable Box (Sizzix Box #2)
Hello Creative Friends,
Awhile back I shared a gable box by altering the Sizzix Box #2 Die for the Big Shot Die Cutting Machine just a little. Basically, I added a second lid/flap and adhered it to make both the front and back of the box match.

Today I’m sharing another box done the same way. Actually this was the first one that I did. I just have had it set aside for awhile till it got closer to Christmas. I used the Stampin’ Up! punches to turn this into a gingerbread house.
Punches Used:
Scallop Circle Punch (Bushes)
1 Inch Circle (Roof)
Wide Oval (Door)
1/8 Handheld (Lights Across Roof-line)
1/8 Handheld & 1/2 Inch Circle (Wreath–Punch center out first with smaller punch)
The windows are 3/4 inch squares. I sponged the edges of all the pieces with White Craft Ink and the little “lights” along the roof have Crystal Effects over top of them to give them a shinny look. The details on everything are just drawn on with a white gel pen (uniball Signo).

You can see I decorated all the way around the box. Below you can tell how I just wrapped the bushes on around the little house by overlapping them. I used approximately 48 punch cut-outs for the roof. It all depends though how much you overlap the rows and how close each row is. I found that mine weren’t exact. If you end up with roof ”shingles” hanging over the sides, just cut them off with scissors.

I used Jumbo Eyelets on each flap to put my ribbon through. This makes a great little box to hide a gingerbread treat inside.

Dresden Quilt Ornament
Hi Everyone, Hope you’ve had a good Sunday. I put up another one of my quilt ornaments. This one is a Dresden Quilt Block.
I used the green shades out of the Patterns Pack Scrapbooking Paper (Designer Series Paper) from Stampin’ Up! I covered a 4 inch chipboard piece with one design of the paper and made small strips for the top and bottom out of a contrasting paper.
The quilt pieces are made with a 1 1/4 inch circle punch. I made ten circles and then folded them to make the shapes. I just had to make sure I was folding each one the same size which was a little tricky but it became easier as I did them. When I put them together, I glued the top and botom pieces first and then filled in the rest so I could space them evenly.
I sponged the edges of the chipboard and quilt pieces with ink. The hanger I did basically the same as I did the Ohio Star Quilt that I posted yesterday.

Have a Merry Week,
Julia

Ohio Star Quilt Ornament

Today my kids and I finished decorating our tree and it looks so pretty! It got me in the mood to make ornaments so I started on some quilt ornaments. This one is the Ohio Quilt Star which I made from
1 1/4 inch squares using the Patterns Pack Scrapbooking Paper (Designer Series Paper) from Stampin’ Up! (It’s a Hostess gift).
I just glued the quilt pieces on a chipboard square, placed in eyelets with the Crop-A-Dile, and used a piece of craft wire for the hanger (curled with a pencil). The chipboard squares I used are 4 inches so because of the size of the design I left 1/8 inch on each edge. I then sponged the edges of the chipboard and the quilt squares with ink. I know the edges are kind of hard to see in the photo.
The heart on the hanger I just made with two oval punches. I placed in a couple hole punches in the middle and threaded the ribbon around the wire and through before tying the bow.
It was a fun little project and I’m going to finish up some more for my tree. I’ll share those when I’m finished with them.
Julia
