Matchbox Die “Book” Craft

Hello Creative Friends,
Well, my share today is not a book of matches but a “Matchbox Book”!  I took a die-cut of the Matchbox Die(Stampin’ Up!) and assembled it.  Next I cut an extra piece of textured card stock and went from the bottom of the box and around to the front.  I cut that piece of card stock so it would slightly hang over the sides, to resemble a book cover.  I rounded the corners.

Stamp used on this project is Bella’s Bloom (Stampin’ Up!)  Project is approximately 2 3/4 length, 2 inches width, and 3/4 inches deep.

I ran some white card stock (Whisper White) through the Crimper Tool, cut pieces the size of the top and side to resemble page edges.  I sponged on a little Silver Shimmer Paint for my page edges.  The pieces around the spine are cut from the Designer Label Punch (Stampin’ Up!).  I used some Silver Shimmer Paint on those too (didn’t have any metallic paper), plus added brads.

Wouldn’t these be great little boxes to give a small size Mother’s Day gift in such as jewelry?  If you don’t have a die-cutting machine and want to try this  for a gift box before tomorrow, there are some matchbox templates online.  Die-cutting is much easier and quicker but if you are energetic and want to cut one out by hand, go ahead and give it a try.
