Fruit of the Spirit Themed Christmas Tree
Hello Creative Friends,
Hope you’ve had a good weekend. I will be sharing a few different themed Christmas tree ideas leading up to Christmas.
Today I’m sharing a Fruit of the Spirit tree with ornaments made from just ribbon, card stock, and a little stamping on some. For those of you who will be placing a Christmas tree in your church or a Sunday School Class, this is a great theme to use on your tree.
First, I’ve made fruit jar ornaments and placed the Fruit of the Spirit on them from Galatians 5:22, 23.
”But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, Meekness, temperance:against such there is no law.”
The jar pattern can be found here! I printed off the “fruit” wording from my computer printer onto white card stock. Use your favorite font. You may need a practice run to make sure your longest fruit wording fits inside of your punch cut-out. Be sure to give good spacing so that you have plenty of room to punch out your words. You could also write them on free-hand with an ink marker if you prefer.
By the way, I used Black Jack Font at 20 pnt. on my fruit “labels”. Black Jack is my favorite font lately to do personal projects with. You can download it for free here.
The jars themselves are just cut out of various colors of card stock with the pattern. I punched out the “labels” from the Scallop Oval Punch and layered it on a Wide Oval Punch cut-out. The hearts I added are punched from the Heart to Heart Punch. For the hanger, punch 1/8 holes into the top corners of the “jar”. I used silver cording.
The edges of each piece of card stock is sponged with ink to give definition. Then I used the Silver Shimmer Paint on the top of the jar and around the sides and bottom. (Right now the Shimmer Paint from Stampin’ Up! is out of stock but should be available on November 9th.) It is from the Mini Holiday Catalog.
For the “fruit” ornaments I used 2 x 3 pieces of card stock (Creamy Caramel) and ran them through the Crimper, rounding the corners with my Corner Rounder Punch. I then stamped some images from the Tart & Tangy stamp set and layered them on scallop circles (Scallop Circle Punch). Again, all the edges are sponged with ink for definition. Just add ribbon to decorate, punch a hole (1/8) and make a hanger (I used white crochet thread).
Tips:
- These ornaments are a quick and simple way to do any of the smaller stamp images.
- This is a great project to use your ribbon and card stock scraps.
- Find other “fruit” pieces to fully dress your fruit themed tree. Usually there’s a lot of apples and pear ornaments available during the holiday season in all colors. You could also add “fake” grape clusters, etc. Use your imagination:)
- The Fruit of the Spirit jars would also be great to use for a church bulletin board. Just make them without the hanger and line them up as on a “shelf”.
