Top Note Gift Box Craft
Hello Creative Friends,
You all know how I love coming up with ways to stretch those Big Shot dies, so today I’m sharing a way for you use the outer edges to all those Top Note Die Cuts that you may normally discard or use for small scraps. The Top Note is an exclusive Stampin’ Up! Die.
Aren’t these fun? I used the outer part of the die for the front of the “box” and placed an acetate sheet behind it. You can make the depth and height any size. You can see I made the purple one a little taller on the back of the box.
These little boxes are the perfect size for 5 1/2 x 4 1/4 cards and envelopes to go with them. Also perfect for small gifts of any type.
On the above one I embellished with a lavender stamped image from my new Herb Expressions stamp set. I found the lavender goodies at the Dollar Tree and thought it made a fun gift. I really like different shades of purple together. The stamped tag is from the Teeny Tiny Wishes stamp set.
This one I made into a game gift using the Jackpot Designer Series Paper (scrapbook paper). I wasn’t real keen on this paper but ordered it because my daughter was doing a game night scrapbooking page. That’s one thing about the Stampin’ Up! paper. It’s printed with different designs on both sides, so if you don’t like one side, you may really like the opposite side:)
Look how really fun you can decorate your box so when the gift is taken out, it’s pretty in the inside as well.
For this box I used the To The Nines Specialty Paper. The Stampin’ Up! Specialty Paper is textured, cover-weight card stock. I think a set of homemade cards and envelopes are a wonderful gift.
You can see that the sides of the card box comes up a little higher than the red game box. That’s because you can use a 12 x 12 sheet of card stock or two 8 1/2 x 11’s to make these. When you use the 12 x 12 sheets, the sides will just come up a little higher.

Hi Julia, What a fabulous project and great use of the die cut negative.
Saw your comment on the SU Demo discuss board- came on over and want to compliment you on a nice clear tutorial for this box. I’ve used the top note outlines to frame a photo for scrapbooking, and to frame another stamp set on a card- this is a great idea! Also want to say I’ve enjoyed reading your many ideas for Women’s groups- used a few at our Ladies’ Group at Church. I sure hope those ideas are meant to copy and use!!I’d hate to be violating a copyrite!
Thanks for sharing so many useful tips.
i’ve been setting my negatives aside for months. i knew someone would show her genius. thanks so much.
