Punched Bee Papercraft

Hello Creative Friends,
Today’s share is another way to use those Butterflies from the Bigz Beautiful Butterflies Die for the Big Shot in honor of my Birthday Week Special.    Today I’ve used them as wings on bees.

I had dug out my tole painting books yesterday and early this morning I had this idea that I could make a bee out of card stock  and make his face look a little tole painted.  I guess I had that tole painting on my mind.   Don’t you love it when a plan comes together?  The butterflies were perfect wings!

Bee Card

Bee Body–I used the Wide Oval Punch (Summer Sun card stock)  and just cut down from the sides with my scissors and made a point for the bottom.  The stripes are drawn on with a black ink marker and the edges are sponged with More Mustard Ink.

Bee Head1 1/4 inch Circle Punch.   I used a black ink marker to dot in his eyes.  The cheeks I did just like I’ve always done in country painting only I used ink—stick your finger in the ink pad and press onto the cheek area.  I used Pretty-in-Pink ink.  Sponge around the edges with More Mustard ink.

AntennaNatural Hemp Twine.  I knotted a piece for each and ran it through my black ink pad, holding it down with a Stamping Sponge.   I did that first and set it aside to let the ink dry.   When they were dry I used the Paper Piercer and put them through the top of the head.

Wings – Vellum card stock with the Bigz Beautiful Butterflies Die.

Just adhere the pieces together.  I used dimensionals.

Bee Gift BagBrad Tip: I used the Jumbo Brads in the 5/8 size.  These are pretty big and sometimes they end up looking like the focal point when you don’t want them to so I’ve found I can take the 1/2 inch Circle Punch and pop out a piece of Designer Series Paper and adhere it to the middle of the brad.  It still shows quite a bit of the brad around the rim so I think it looks nice.  Plus you can coordinate it with the papers you use on your card.

I’ve put one of my bees on a bag made with the Bag With Scallops Die.  (not using the creasing and cutting off the scallop flap).  For more projects with the Bag With Scallops, go here.

The other bee I put on a card.  The card sentiment is from the Teeny Tiny Wishes stamp set.  There’s a greeting for just about every occasion in that set.

The Designer Series Paper is Thoroughly Modern.  I know I keep using that but it’s so pretty!
