Spring Paper Flowers Craft

Paper Flowers Spring CraftHello Creative Friends,
I hope you are not getting tired of my paper flowers, because I just had to make some more!  I need some Spring in my life:)  You can view a larger photo here.

These I made with the Circle Scissors Plus.  They are just circles with slits cut around the edges, but not all the way into the middle.  These range from 4 1/2 inch circles down to 1 3/4 inch circles.  The smaller circles I did with a circle punch instead of the Circle Scissors.

For the layers I did with the designer scrapbook paper I adhered the paper to a circle of cardstock before I cut the slits.  This way the petals are sturdier and you can move them around and play with them a little so you can arrange them how you want.

For each petal I rolled the corners slightly.  I did this with a bamboo skewer.  Don’t use a pencil.  It will be too thick.  I rolled the edges before I put the layers together.  The stems are bamboo skewers covered with floral tape.  Cover them just down to the last few inches.  It’s an easy stem (and inexpensive).  Plus if you are poking them into floral foam, your point’s already there.

For the centers of the flowers, I cut a 1/2 inch by approximately 6 1/2 inch strip of cardstock, ran it through my crimper, and then rolled it up and adhered it with my Snail Adhesive when I got toward the end and put it on with a dimensional.  The leaves were  just cut  free-hand.

For these flowers I used the Raspberry Tart and the Tea Party Specialty Designer Series Paper from Stampin’ Up. I edged my circles with ink before I cut the slits.  You can’t see them because I put the flower centers over them, but I used a brad through all the layers to hold them together.  To finish off the back, I put on a 1 3/4 circle punch over the stem.

I realized before I put the stems on these that these would make wonderful package toppers.  Just think how fun they’d be with Christmas colors and paper!  Hope you enjoy and that you’ll let me know if you try some of these.

Enjoy your day,
Julia

    Hi There!

Regarding the spring flowers, is each, individual layer glued to a circle before cutting?

Thanks, and have a blessed day!

    Mary,
The bottom layers on these that I show are just cardstock circles. The other layers are the designer series paper attached to the same size of cardstock circles before cutting. I just used my snail adhesive to attach them. I just felt like it made them sturdier and easier to work with…Julia
