Papercraft Easter Basket

Easter Papercraft BasketHello Creative Friends,

Today I thought I’d share a quick little project I did this weekend with the Top Note Die for the Big Shot

For this project, I first I layered strips of 3/4 inch of cardstock.  Tried to make it look like a basket weave.  I layered it on a piece of cardstock a little bigger than the die and then ran the die through.  There’s two top notes with a craft bag sandwiched between to make the basket.

Easter Papercraft SideI decorated it with some of the Big Shot Sizzlets Dies.  They come in a lot of fun shapes for paper-crafting.  I used the Little Leaves and Birds and Blooms.  They are on pages 200-201 in the Stampin’  Up! Catalog.  The handle is two cardstock strips adhered together to make it sturdier and put on with brads.  You can see the side view over to the right.

These would make cute little Easter gifts filled with Easter grass and some candy.  Perhaps some Cadbury Eggs? Yum!  They’d be fun to give to your Secret Sister or even to put by your place settings at Easter.

Have a wonderful day,
Julia

    Julia,
your baskets are just so adorable. I have to ask one thing, even when I seem to be absolutely stupid: In so many projects I can read that I should put a small sandwich bag between the top note die cut outs. Fine…. I live in Europe and it seems nearly impossible to get a small paperback, just huge ones or they are made from clear plastic (soft not stiff material). That is problem No 1. The second one, I do not have a clue how these bags/baskets schould look from the side. Are they not “ugly” compared to the front and back? But maybe I am just not clever enough to understand it pronperly. Sorry for the long posting…

    Hi Nessie,

There is a photo side view of my basket on this post. It’s toward the bottom of the post. Where you see the white—that is the bag you see and the side view.

You are probably reading it as “sandwich bag” but rather it should be “sandwich a bag”. When we say “sandwich”, we meen to put something in between.

Most of us use craft bags for these (they come in usually white or brown). The bags I use are 6 1/2 inches tall (I normally cut them down). And they are 3 1/2 wide and 2 1/4 deep. It doesn’t really matter the exact size of the bag though, just so it’s smaller than your basket you are making.

I found a picture online of what the bags I use look like. Only the ones I use are a little smaller than this but this is the type anyway.

Julia, Thank you so much for answering. I just couldn’t stop myself from browsing through your blog – there are so many wonderful inspirations. I am deeply in love with your farm animals!!! My nieces birthdays are coming up in May – and as typical nearly 9 years old girls – they love animals. Is it okay for you if I copy your cow and pig idea?
