Making Card Embellishments

Top Note Card

Hello Creative Friends,

Today I had the opportunity to just sit and make cards with one of my daughters.   What a relaxing day!  The card I’m sharing I did with just a piece of black cardstock and a top note die from the Sizzix Big Shot with just a few simple embellishments.

The saying is from the “Full of Life” stamp set which is on the Dormant List.

I wanted to explain how easy it was to make the floral embellishments for this card.  I used the Raspberry Tart paper from Stampin’ Up! and cut out some of the pretty flowers on the paper.  This is easy to do with any type of scrapbook paper that has some sort of object or designs in it that you can cut out as a whole.

First pick out the flower or object on the designer scrapbook paper that you want to use.  Cut out a portion of the paper a little bigger than the object you want to use.  Sometimes if there’s several things I want to cut out, I just use a large portion of the paper.  Adhere that paper to a piece of cardstock.   This will make them sturdy enough to use for an embellishment.

Take your scissors and cut closely to the edges of your flower or object.  If there’s white edges or something showing you don’t like, just find a similar shade of ink and sponge the edge a little or use an ink marker in the correct shade.   Sometimes I go along the edge with a gel pen to enhance what I’m working on.   Take your cut outs and use them for embellishments for your cards and scrapbook pages by adhering them with foam dimensionals(mounts).

I thought these embellishment  flowers from the Raspberry Tart paper turned out so pretty!  I love looking for papers that have things like this that I can use this technique on.   Make sure you take a peek at the new Stampin’ Up! papers.  They are in the “Accessories” section of the new catalog.

Happy creative crafting,
Julia

I really like the simplicity of this card – both the message and the embellishments.
When using a message such as this I feel it is better not to make the card too fussy.
May you continue to have God’s blessing in our life
