Papercraft Watering Can Favor
Hello Creative Friends,
Today I’m sharing the last of my 3-D projects I had for my Spring Workshop. I may eventually upload my spring cards I did too.
Today’s share is a watering can. I made one sample in white to show how cute they could be for a bridal shower favor. I put a flower from one of the Big Shot Embosslits Dies on that one. I thought it gave it an elegant look.
One I did in gray and sponged it a little to give it a worn look. On that one I added some card stock strips around it. On these you can make the handles as detailed as you want just by rolling up strips of card stock and adhering it into place.
The tempting turquoise one is simpler with a plain handle, bow, and stamped worded image. I put seed packets in mine but you could also put in some small flowers or cellophane bags of candy if you are using them for favors.

I have some photos of some of the steps to make the base of these but I haven’t had time to reduce the size and crop them to upload. If you’ve ever made those Box In A Bags at Splitcoast the base is done with the same principle only with different dimensions. My base pieces were 8 3/4 inches x 3 3/4 and a 4 x 4 square.
If you follow that Splitcoast tutorial directions using my measurements, stop at their step #13 and you’ll have your watercan base. I lined my seam in the middle of one of the sides so I could use the seamed side to put the handle on.
For the spout measure 1 inch x 4 inches and cut slant points on each end. Cut a slit in your watercan for the spout with a craft knife, slide in the spout. I just paper-pierced scallops (from the Scallop Circle Punch) for the spout end on one of these and used the dotted circular stamp from the Trendy Trees set on the others. I applied the scallops to the spout itself by using two 1 inch circles folded in two. My handle strip was 7 3/4 x 3/4 inches.
These would make great favors to go with your Women’s Ministry garden theme banquets. If you leave off the spout these make a great coffee mug too, just make your handle without any curlies inside. The mugs would be fun for the Women’s Ministry Coffee Theme or Father’s Day Themes.
Have a creative day,
Julia

Houseplant Pokes Craft
Hello Creative Friends,
Today I’m sharing with you another one of my spring workshop projects– houseplant pokes. They’re made with card stock and embellished with some of the Big Shot Sizzlit and Embosslit dies.
Basically, just cut the birdhouse base out of card stock and decorate as desired. I used the Scallop Edge Punch to make the roof line. I put score lines on some of the birdhouses that I made to make them look like wood.
On one that I show below, I covered the card stock with the Delicate Dots Designer Series Paper from Sale-A-Bration.
By the way, Sale-A-Bration ends today! Click here to view the photo below in a little more detail.
I used a heavy gage floral wire on these but you could also use small size dowel rods. On the back where I placed the wire, I cut a square of card stock and put Sticky Strip on it and covered the wire to keep the wire on and give it a finished look as well.
I used birdhouses for these, but you can make these indoor plant pokes in any shape– critters, flowers, etc. I think they are fun to put with houseplants that you give for gifts, especially if you give plants for get well gifts. You can add a cute worded tag to them for any occasion.
Print out the base pattern here.
Hope you enjoyed these. If you make any, let me know!
Have a creative day,
Julia

Seed Box Tote Craft
Hello Creative Friends,
I’ve received a lot of email about spring and Mother-Daughter banquets and I know many of you are doing garden themes.
I saw these seed boxes in the Dollar Tree the other day and I thought these would make cute door prizes and giveaways so I decided to try dressing one up. These measure approximately 4 by 6 by 1 1/2 inches.
I measured card stock to a 1/4 inch wider than the measurements for the box width and about 2 inches longer than the height of the box. This gave me a little to work with for adding the handle at the top and plenty to go on the bottom. I measured an inch in on the height side and scored (Click to seee photo of this step). Then I added Sticky Strip to piece the bottom together. (Click to see photo of this step). Sorry, the color in the side view photo below didn’t turn out too good.

I used some of the Sale-A-Bration items to decorate the box holder. Delicate Dots Designer Paper, Botanical Blooms stamp set, and the So Saffron Ribbon is from the Ribbon Bundle. All of these items are some of the choices of free products you can select during Sale-A-Bration for each $50 purchase of Stampin’ Up! Products. Sale-A-Bration ends March 31.
The technique I used around the stamped image is an old craft painting technique. You take Saran Wrap (plastic food wrap), wad it up and dip it into paint, then daub. I thought I’d try it out with dabbing it on my ink pad and it worked. It’s not so detailed as you get with using paint but I still like how it turned out. I held down a Wide Oval Punch cut-out over the stamped image while I added the ink.
To finish it off, I added a handle with a Filigree Designer Brad. I placed the ribbon around the entire holder to keep the box inside.
You’ll find Seeds of Kindness theme-related items on the main website.

This box holder cover idea can be used with any boxed products such as cake and brownie mixes, etc. Just measure accordingly. Be sure to leave me a comment if you enjoyed this project. I love hearing from you!
